چکیده

•A DLM was able to classify five of the most common STS subtypes from histology alone.•When aided by DLM, pathologists were more accurate, faster, and certain in their diagnosis.•A similar predict disease-specific survival status subtype.•The DLM's prediction an independent prognostic factor.•New image features associated with could be identified. BackgroundClinical management soft tissue sarcoma (STS) is particularly challenging. Here, we used digital pathology deep learning (DL) for diagnosis prognosis STS.Patients methodsOur retrospective, multicenter study included a total 506 histopathological slides 291 patients STS. The Cancer Genome Atlas cohort (240 patients) served as training validation set. A second, (51 additional test use DL model (DLM) clinical decision support system evaluated nine different levels expertise. For prediction, 139 85 leiomyosarcoma (LMS) used. Area under receiver operating characteristic (AUROC) accuracy main outcome measures.ResultsThe achieved mean AUROC 0.97 (±0.01) 79.9% (±6.1%) diagnosing subtypes. significantly improved 46.3% (±15.5%) 87.1% (±11.1%). Furthermore, they faster diagnosis. In LMS, predicting 0.91 (±0.1) 88.9% (±9.9%). Cox regression showed DLM’s significant factor (P = 0.008, hazard ratio 5.5, 95% confidence interval 1.56-19.7) these patients, outperforming other risk factors.ConclusionsDL can accurately diagnose frequent conventional slides. It might prevalent subtype our cohort. also help make accurate diagnoses. This substantially improve patients. Clinical Our measures. factors.

Diagnosis and management of soft tissue sarcoma.

Soft tissue sarcomas are a heterogeneous group of tumours of mesodermal origin. Although they are rare, accounting for less than 1% of all malignant tumours, half of patients diagnosed will die from the sarcoma. w1 Lumps are commonly encountered in primary and specialist care, and differentiating benign from possibly malignant lesions can be difficult. The estimated benign:malignant ratio is 10...

Prediction of clinical outcome and survival in soft-tissue sarcoma using a ten-lncRNA signature

The prognostic value of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in patients with soft-tissue sarcoma has rarely been unraveled. The aim of the study was to find a lncRNA signature to predict the clinical outcome and survival in soft-tissue sarcoma based on the high-throughput RNA-seq data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. The lncRNAs which closely correlated with overall survival in 258 soft...

Occurrence of Comorbidities before and after Soft Tissue Sarcoma Diagnosis

Background. Data is limited on the burden of common comorbidities, such as cardiovascular disease (CVD), respiratory disease and diabetes, or comorbidities related to cancer and its treatment, such as anemia and depression, in patients with soft tissue sarcoma (STS). Patients and Methods. From the Dutch Pathology Registry linked to the PHARMO database (including data on drug use and hospitaliza...

Synovial Sarcoma of the Head and Neck: A Case of Childhood Soft Tissue Sarcoma

Although rare, synovial sarcoma is the most common malignant non-rhabdomyosarcomatous soft tissue sarcoma in children and adolescents. Synovial sarcoma typically involves the soft tissues of the extremities, especially near large joints, but it can occur anywhere in the body in locations far from joint spaces. Although this tumor typically affects adults in their fourth decade of life, nearly h...

Survival after local recurrence of soft tissue sarcoma.

We analysed metastasis-free survival after local recurrence in a population-based series of 432 patients treated for soft-tissue sarcoma of the extremities or trunk wall. Local recurrence was found in 124 patients; of these, 73 had no detectable metastases when the last local recurrence was diagnosed. No patient received chemotherapy for local recurrence. The 73 patients had a 5-year metastasis...
